“I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.”
Paul understood that the message entrusted to him was for all people. He was obligated to give everyone he could the message of hope he possessed. There is no hierarchy in Paul’s approach, he wants everyone to hear this message.
Have you ever held back on sharing your faith with someone because you had determined that they would not receive it well? Perhaps you held back because you felt like they were to “cool” or for some not cool enough. Maybe you thought they would have questions you could not answer or that the message would too hard for them to understand. Maybe there is some other reason you wrote them off. What ever the reasons, the reality is the message we have to share is a message of hope for everyone. It is not reserved for a certain class or type of person. It is not too simple or too complicated to be received by anyone.
Paul models for us one simple truth. We are obligated to share God’s gospel with everyone and anyone and God is responsible for the results. We allow ourselves to get blocked in sharing our message because when we think we have something to do with how a person responds. God is the one who speaks to people hearts; he just often uses our words (and more often how we live) to do it. Let us share God’s love with everyone and let God reveal Himself through it.
